AN ACT RECLASSIFYING AS
AGRICULTURAL LAND OPEN TO DISPOSITION UNDER THE PROVISIONS OF THE
PUBLIC LAND ACT, AS AMENDED, A PORTION OF THE LAND EMBRACED IN
PROCLAMATION NO. 223, DATED FEBRUARY 29, 1988 WHICH WAS EXCLUDED FROM
THE OPERATION OF PROCLAMATION NO. 284, DATED JULY 19, 1938,
ESTABLISHING THE MALANGAS COAL RESERVATION IN THE MUNICIPALITY OF
MALANGAS, PROVINCE OF ZAMBOANGA DEL SUR, ISLAND OF MINDANAO.

Section
1. A portion of the land embraced in Proclamation No.
223, dated February 29, 1988, which excluded from the operation of
Proclamation No. 284, dated July 19, 1938, establishing the Malangas
Coal Reservation in the Municipality of Malangas, Province of Zamboanga
del Sur, Island of Mindanao, is hereby reclassified as agricultural
land open to disposition under the provisions of the Public Land Act,
as amended, which portion is more particularly described as follows:
"A
parcel of land situated in the Municipality of Imelda, Province of
Zamboanga del Sur, Island of Mindanao. Bounded on the NE, SE, SW, and
NW along lines 1-2-3-4-5-1 by Malangas Coal Reservation. Beginning at a
point marked "1" of lot (Portion of Malangas Coal Reservation) being
N.4718' W., 10,001.18 meters from BLLM No. 1. PLS 547, Malangas,
Zamboanga del Sur to Corner 1;

S. 00 28' E. 3,366.40 m. to point 2;
thence S. 43 00' W., 2,122.18 m. to point 3; thence S. 79 30' W., 2,250.00 m. to point 4; thence DUE NORTH 2,000.00 m. to point 5; thence N. 47 30' E., 4,926.69 m. to point of beginning, containing an area of eleven million two hundred thirty-nine thousand eighty (11,239.080) square meters." Sec. 2. The Department of Environment and Natural Resources shall distribute said parcel of land described in Sec. 1 hereof to qualified citizens, subject to existing laws and regulations: Provided, that actual occupants shall be given preference in the awarding of farm lots: Provided, further, that a town site shall be segregated therefrom to be subdivided, in coordination with the local government of the Municipality of Imelda, into lots for commercial, industrial and residential uses, and disposed of in accordance with existing laws and regulations: Provided, finally, that lots of sufficient size and strategic location shall be reserved for government purposes of the Municipality of Imelda, for the use of agencies of the national government, such as school sites of the Department of Education, Culture and Sports, as well as for public use, including the necessary avenues, streets, alleyways, parks and squares. Sec. 3. This Act shall take effect immediately upon its approval. Approved:
