REPUBLIC ACT NO. 2089 - AN ACT TO
AMEND REPUBLIC ACT NUMBERED FIVE HUNDRED FIFTEEN |
Section 1. The
title of Republic Act Numbered Five hundred fifteen is amended to read
as follows: "An Act granting the Silliman
University a temporary permit to establish, maintain and operate radio
broadcasting stations for non-profit, religious, educational, and
cultural purposes."
Sec. 2. Section one of the same Act is amended to read as follows: "Section 1. The
Silliman University, hereinafter referred to as 'grantee,' is hereby
granted a temporary permit to construct, maintain and operate, subject
to the approval of the Secretary of Public Works and Communications,
radio broadcasting stations in the Philippines and the corresponding
electrical communication laboratories, for non-profit, religious,
educational and cultural purposes only."
Sec. 3. Section two of the same Act is amended to read as follows: "Sec. 2.
This temporary permit shall continue for a period of twenty-five years
from the date the said stations shall be put in operation, and is made
upon the express condition that the same shall be void unless the
construction of at least one station be begun within six months from
the date of approval of this Act and be completed within two years from
said date. Frequencies for other stations shall be granted upon
request, subject to rules and regulations prescribed by the Secretary
of Public Works and Communications governing said matters, existing at
the time of application."
Sec. 4. Section twelve of the same Act is amended to read as follows: Section 12. The
grantee shall not lease, transfer, grant the usufruct of, sell or
assign this temporary permit nor the rights and privileges acquired
thereunder to any person, firm, company, corporation, or other
commercial or legal entity, nor merge with any other company or
corporation organized for the same purpose, without the approval of the
Congress of the Philippines first had, Provided, That the rights and
privileges of this franchise shall be shared with the Philippine
Federation of Christian Churches. Any corporation to which this
temporary permit may be sold, transferred, or assigned, shall be
subject to the corporation laws of the Philippines now existing or
hereafter enacted, and any person, firm, company, corporation or other
commercial or legal entity to which this temporary permit is sold,
transferred, or assigned shall be subject to all the conditions, terms,
restrictions and limitations of this temporary permit as fully and
completely and to the same extent as if the temporary permit had been
originally granted to the said person, firm, company, corporation or
other commercial or legal entity."
Sec. 5. This Act shall take effect upon its approval.cralaw Enacted without Executive
