PRESIDENTIAL DECREE NO. 1957 - INCREASING THE INTERNATIONALRPORT PASSENGER TERMINAL FEE AND ABOLISHING THE INCREASE IN THE TRAVEL TAX PROVIDED UNDER PRESIDENTIAL DECREE NO. 1953, AS AMENDED BY PRESIDENTIAL DECREE NO. 1951, AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES




WHEREAS, the current economic crisis amounts to a grave emergency which affects the stability of the nation and requires immediate action;

WHEREAS, the issuance of this decree is an essential and necessary component of the national economic recovery program formulated to meet and overcome the emergency;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, FERDINAND E. MARCOS, President of the Philippines, by virtue of the powers vested in me by the Constitution, do hereby order and decree the following:

Section 1.chanroblesnad There is hereby imposed on all departing passengers at the Manila and other internationalrports a fee of One Hundred Pesos, in addition to the terminal fee currently imposed under MIAA Administrative Order No. 1, Series of 1984, in relation to Executive Order Nos. 778 and 903 and Batas Pambansa Blg. 325; Provided, That passengers exempted under Section 10, MIAA Administrative Order No. 1, Series of 1984, shall also be exempted from the additional terminal fee imposed hereunder.

The additional terminal fee shall be paid at the same time and in the same manner as the terminal fee imposed under MIAA Administrative Order No. 1, Series of 1984.

Sec. 2.chanroblesnad The proceeds from the additional terminal fee imposed in Section 1 hereof shall accrue to the general fund of the National Government.

Sec. 3.chanroblesnad The rates of travel tax prescribed in Section 1 of Presidential Decree No. 1183, as last amended by Presidential Decree No. 1867, are hereby restored.

Sec. 4.chanroblesnad The imposition of the additional terminal fee shall take effect on October 15, 1984.

Sec. 5.chanroblesnad The provisions of Sections 1, 4, and 5 of Presidential Decree No. 1953 as amended by Sec. 2 of Presidential Decree No. 1951, with respect to the increased travel tax, and all other laws, decrees, orders and regulations or parts thereof, which are inconsistent hereof, are hereby repealed or modified accordingly.
